Transmission Line & Substation

Dugald Mine, QLD

Civil Group (Aust) Pty Ltd (CGA) was awarded a contract for the civil works associated with the Dugald River Mine 220kV Transmission Line and Substation Project undertaken by Zinfra for MMG Mining, the owners of the mine development.

The scope of work consisted of the CGA Geotechnical Investigative Drilling process at each of the 182 transmission line pole sites to determine ground conditions and subsequent foundation designs.

CGA deployed two Soilmec drilling machines for drilling a 1500mm diameter hole at each site for the direct embedment of steel poles. The majority of sites required pre-drilling of multiple smaller holes with the Atlas Copco air-track machines to enable the large diameter drilling to remove the rock. The scope of work consisted of 182 transmission line pole sites to determine ground conditions

CGA constructed all civil works and foundations for the 220/22Kv substation located at the mine site end of the transmission line.
